Travel back in time to pivotal moments in history!

On Close Up’s thrilling, five-day/four-night Washington, DC, and Mount Vernon Middle School Program, students walk in the footsteps of our first president and take in some of our country’s most iconic historical sites. Guided by our highly trained instructors, Close Up students have the opportunity to:

  • Discuss the historical events that have shaped our nation through visits to must-see sites in Washington, DC;
  • Engage with peers to debate pressing national issues in an interactive Mock Congress;
  • Examine George Washington’s role and legacy by exploring the home, gardens, and farms that made up his 500-acre estate on the Potomac River;
  • Visit the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum to marvel at thousands of displays and artifacts, including the Space Shuttle Discovery!
