Leaders in Advocacy Academy

A 2022 summer program in partnership with Georgetown University.

About the Academy

This summer, the Close Up Foundation is partnering with Georgetown University to offer the Leaders in Advocacy Academy. The program, which will be fully virtual and remote, will bring together a diverse group of students from around the world for an intensive exploration of various strategies for organizing people and influencing policy. Students will leave the program well-equipped to take on leadership roles at school, in their local community, and on the global stage.

What the Program Offers:

  • Students will engage with leaders in Congress, nonprofits, and liberal and conservative advocacy organizations to learn strategies for influencing policy and public opinion.
  • Students will participate in workshops exploring coalition building, community activism, and strategic messaging surrounding current policy debates.
  • Students will develop a narrative and plan of action to build support for a cause they care about.
  • Students will earn a certificate of participation upon completion of the Academy.
