Become a Close Up Civic Ambassador!

The Close Up experience isn’t just for those who attend a Washington program. In fact, it’s something you can create yourself in your school or hometown! 

Close Up is thrilled to offer students the opportunity to become Civic Ambassadors, a nationwide network of young leaders working to engage in and develop the skills of active citizenship, responsible leadership, and the art of making a positive impact in local and global communities.

Who are Close Up Civic Ambassadors?

Civic Ambassadors are students in grades 7-12  who are excited about making a positive impact in their schools and communities. In this role, you’ll organize at least two civic engagement activities each school year and submit your stories and impact through the MobileServe app! Close Up will provide monthly toolkits and recommendations for organizing impactful activities and highlight profiles of our amazing Civic Ambassadors who are truly changingthe world 

Requirements and highlights include:    

  • Organizing at least two civic engagement activities in your school or local community during the school year. 
  • Using the MobileServe app to track your activities, submit photos, and give feedback on your experiences.   
  • Becoming a civic influencer in Close Up’s online community, including on social media and the Current Issues Blog, and recruiting your peers to become Civic Ambassadors themselves. 
  • Receiving special invitations to Close Up events and webinarswith experts in the field. 
  • Earning a Close Up Civic Ambassador microcredential for your resume and (if applicable) credit toward your state’s civic engagement diploma seal.  
  • Gaining the tools and strategies to be a civic leader at your school and in your community.
