TX-07 Civic Scholars Program Application

As a high school student, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher made one of her first trips to D.C. to participate in a Close Up Washington Program. Today, she is excited to partner with the Close Up Foundation once again to launch the TX-07 Civic Scholars Program. Through this collaboration, students attending high schools across the district will participate in a Close Up Washington Program from March 9-14, 2025. This initiative will provide young people with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about current issues and develop the skills of engaged citizens. Students will spend six days and five nights in Washington, D.C., to engage in study visits throughout the nation’s capital, hold discussions with peers from around the United States, and debate pressing issues facing their communities and our nation in a Mock Congress.

Eligibility: You must be a current 10th-12th grade high school student who lives in TX-07, and who is interested in government, public policy, or advocacy. To be considered for the scholarship, you must complete the application no later than February 6, 2025. If accepted, you will be notified by February 7, 2025.
Tuition for six days and five nights of this program is $2,662.00. A limited number of full and partial scholarships will be available for students, thanks to the generosity of donors from TX-07. Participants also have the option to secure their spot by paying in full.
