The Bank of America Student Leadership Summit Close Up conducts the Student Leadership Summit each July for high school students from Bank of America markets across the country. This leadership development program provides students with valuable perspectives on civic, social and business partnerships as positive forces of change within their communities. In addition to participation in the Student Leadership Summit, students take part in a summer internship experience at a non-profit in their home community. Together, these activities help students develop important leadership skills and strengthen their commitment to improving their communities.

More InfoStudents Building Healthy Communities In 2010, Blue Cross Blue Shield commissioned a study which found that in major metropolitan areas, inequalities resulting from socioeconomic and environmental factors were preventing disadvantaged communities from being their healthiest. To address the needs of these communities, Close Up is partnering with the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and Florida Foundations to conduct the Students Building Healthy Communities program. This exciting week in Washington helps high school students from Minnesota and Florida gain a better understanding of health-related public policy issues, assess the health needs of their communities, and develop Community Action Projects intended to improve access to healthy choices in their schools and communities.

More InfoOperation Next Generation Close Up is pleased to be Deloitte’s choice to conduct the Operation Next Generation program, which provides tuition scholarships for students that have parents serving in the military. Operation Next Generation is a way for the students from these families to learn about the democracy their parents are defending and for which many of them are making personal sacrifices. Another special component of this program will focus on helping to prepare students to successfully gain entry into college. The 2012 Operation Next Generation Close Up program will take place in June with participants from military families based in San Antonio, TX; Colorado Springs, CO; and Charleston, SC.
